Does your baby really need a sleep sack?

The short answer: a sleep sack is a huge plus to have! Not 100% necessary, but makes life a lot easier and you’ll be happy you have one.

The long answer: If you’re a new parent, it’s important to note that you can’t use a blanket on your baby. Safe sleep guidelines from the CDC say that your baby should sleep on a surface free from other objects, including pillows, dolls, and blankets.

So what do you do when it’s a cold or cool night?

That’s where sleep sacks come in!

They are basically an easy way to add a second, comfy layer of cloth to your baby. You zip it up around your baby and stays loose and comfy like a blanket, while not carrying the risk of covering your baby’s face along with the suffocation risk involved.

What is TOG?

Recently while shopping for sleep sacks, I was super confused by the references to “TOG”. What is TOG when it comes to sleep sacks? TOG stands for thermal overall grade or, simply, how thick a sleep sack is. The higher the TOG rating, the warmer the fabric on the wearable blanket.

Haven’t tried these yet but I love pretty much anything from Burt’s Bees. We have a lot of their clothes and pajamas!
